We ignore some plants that are growing in your back yard, but little did we know that they are the medicine that most of the people are looking for in order to treat their illnesses.
The leaves provide amazing health benefits, so you better think twice the next time that you decide to pull it and throw away. It has been well-known in the entire world as an edible plant and as a weed, too. Moreover, a lot of cultures embrace purslane as a food.

Purslane’s seeds are extremely powerful that that plant has the ability live for up to 25 years. Therefore, if you are trying to control the number of purslane, one thing is for sure, don’t let go if its seed. About three weeks after you notice its seedlings, the flowers and seeds will eventually be produced.
Purslane should be consumed on a regular basis. It can be consumed in salads or on sandwiches. It can also be cooked as a potherb, steamed, stir-friend or even pureed. It has the tendency to get a little slimy if overcooked.
You can actually store it in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days, but it is advisable to consume it while the leaves are still fresh and not wilted. Before storing them, rinse the leaves and stem in order to clean them up with the help of cold water. After doing so, mop it with a soft cloth in order to remove the moisture.
Note: People with known oxalate urinary tract stones are recommended to avoid consuming these because they contain oxalic acid, which is a naturally-occurring substance that can be found in some vegetables that may crystallize as oxalate stones in the urinary tract in some people.
